The Friends have taken part in a large number of projects over the years, indoors and out.
The Friends worked with groups from Fieldhead, Oakwell Staff and Visitors to the park to create a new large sculpture in the grounds. Called Fiddlesticks and Fernblades, the sculpture was inspired by the park's landscapes, wildlife and local people.
The Friends and Staff worked in partnership with arts agency LOCA on the project, and the Friends have received nearly £10,000 of funding from the Lottery's Awards for All. It is hoped that by getting the Fieldhead groups involved it will encourage the park's local community to visit more often and use the park.
Artist Adrian Moakes created the sculpture and more of his work can be seen at his website, http://www.adrianmoakes.com/
We've been collecting information on the railway line that ran from Birstall through the park for the Countryside Information Centre. This project is ongoing, so if you can offer help, assistance or memories about this part of the park's history, email us or contact Emma or Pauline on 01924 326240. We'd like to hear from you.
The Friends were also heavily involved with the planning and creation of the Wild About Water feature now in the Hall grounds.
