Events at Oakwell - Volunteers Working Parties
The Friends run Volunteer Work Parties on the first Saturday of each month and usually cover a wide range of light tasks in the Park. If you're interested we'd be pleased to see you but please ring to check that the workshop is taking place and to get further details.

Oakwell Hall and its surrounding country park offer a wide range of subjects, views and themes for photographers of all abilities. We offer courses for those wishing to learn or improve photographic skills, and an annual exhibition of work done in the park by local photographers. Discounts are available for Friends.

Discover our wildlife rich country park with a programme of activities aimed at children 12 years and under.
£1 per child per event. Pre-Booking essential.
Events at Oakwell - Young Rangers
If you are between 10 and 16 and want to try something a bit more challenging, while helping the park and wildlife at the same time, this could be for you.
Join our Park Rangers to carry out some practical conservation work while you learn new skills and make new friends.
Events at Oakwell - Enviroyouth at Oakwell
Enviroyouth is a practical conservation group organised by the Kirklees Countryside Unit, open to all young people aged 14 to 25 in the Kirklees district. The group carries out practical tasks such as hedge laying, fencing and tree planting one Saturday per month. Enviroyouth can be used as the service part of the Duke of Edinburgh Award.

All activities (except bouncy castles and face painting) are free of charge. Please note these events are not suitable for organised groups or play-schemes.

Why not make the most of your visit to Oakwell by joining one of our guided walks and tours round the house, gardens and country park. Or pick up an entry form for 'free to enter' quizzes to help you to explore on your own. Discounts are available on some events for Friends.

A fantastic opportunity to learn some traditional cookery skills on the open fire and charcoal range here at Oakwell Hall, as you prepare and eat some traditional dishes in the 17th century Hall kitchen.
