Friends of Oakwell Hall and Country Park are proud to announce another success in the BAFM newsletter competition. We have been voted Runner-up this year.
This is our fourth award – we were winners in 1998 and 2001 and runner up in 2003.
Considering that we haven’t actually submitted our newsletter for the award over the past five or six years and taking into account that we prepare, edit, and print it ourselves, our newsletter team are extremely pleased with this success and hope we can, perhaps, go one better next year.
Thanks are due to everyone – staff and Friends – who have provided interesting and topical articles – without them our newsletter would not be!!
Added to the awards gained by Oakwell – their 10th Green Flag and Gold in Yorkshire in Bloom, we really are becoming a winning team !
Newsletters are sent out free of charge to members or can be purchased for 50p;get a taste of what they're like by looking at a past issue.

THE BAfM NEWSLETTER AWARD
The BAfM (British Association of Friends of Museums) Newsletter Award is an annual award open to all member groups. The judges are looking for a publication which reflects well on the group and the museum it supports: is written by and for more than a small ‘in crowd’: is informative both to members and prospective members and acknowledges that BAFM exists!
The award is split into two categories, those comprising groups with memberships over 500, and those with memberships below 500. There is one outright winner and two runners-up in each category.
The winners are announced at the BAfM AGM & Conference and are awarded a cheque for £250, plus a framed certificate. The runners-up each receive a cheque for £100 and a framed certificate.
